HEAD & SHOULDERS BEACH BOTTLE REACHES A MILESTONE WITH OVER 1 MILLION BOTTLES RECOVERED THROUGH PLASTIC RECYCLING

This World Oceans Day, we celebrated the achievements of hundreds of volunteers and our plastic recycling partners helping us reach a big milestone in plastic recycling – over 6 tons of plastic on beaches recovered and recycled.

In 2016, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation reported that 95% of the value of plastic packaging material is lost to the economy and on the current track there could be more plastics in the ocean than fish by 2050.

Inspired by the quote “Little Drops Of Water Make A mighty Ocean” the world’s #1 shampoo brand Head & Shoulders* took action against plastic pollution by launching the world’s first recyclable shampoo bottles made with plastic collected from the beach.

The pilot was launched in France in the summer of 2017 with 150,000 recyclable shampoo bottles made from plastic pollution recovered by hundreds of volunteers, and with support from our recycling experts Terracycle and Suez.

The Head & Shoulders Beach Bottle has since travelled around the world, launching in more than 10 countries with recyclable shampoo bottles including Germany, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, UK, Israel, México, Costa Rica, Argentina, Panamá and Chile.

Over 1 million bottles produced to date, we have collected more than 6 tons of plastic on beaches that could otherwise end up in our oceans.
